Dr. Brian Schmidt was born and raised in McDonald, Ohio. He attended Youngstown State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Biology. Dr. Schmidt was then accepted to Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he graduated first in his class with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2005. He continued his training and entered the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at MetroHealth Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic in 2005. Dr. Schmidt received extensive training in the treatment of traumatic injuries, dentofacial deformities, oral pathology, reconstructive surgery, anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, bone grafting, and dental implant surgery.
After completing his residency, he joined the practice of Drs. Benninger and Schween. He has continued his advanced training by attending continuing education courses locally and nationally. He has merited the high distinction of becoming a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is also a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Medina County Dental Society, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He holds active staff privileges at Medina Hospital.
Dr. Schmidt and his wife Rhea, also a practicing general dentist, not only share a passion for their dental professions, but, more importantly, spending time with their lovely young daughter. Dr. Schmidt also enjoys golfing, fishing, health, and fitness.
